"Founder Lex Blondin established the center to connect artists to others, providing performance space and a recording studio, as well as a location for artist workshops. The music emanating from that community is represented in this compilation, which ranges across the many soundscapes but lands deep in the heart of rhythm and groove, a consistent vibe".

"The Stoke-Newington-based Total Refreshment Center was the crucible where the likes of Binker & Moses, Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective and other Brit Jazz trailblazers forged their syncretic cross-pollinations in sound. Though as a performance space, the TRC is now consigned to history, it still boasts a viable recording studio and, as this ace collection reveals, the iconic venue's influence still permeates new music emerging out of London ... The music is thrillingly diverse, ranging from psychedelic hip-hop jazz to dubby soundscapes ... Highlights include the shimmering soul-jazz of Matters Unknown's "Eloquence" and trumpeter Byron Wallen's "Closed Circle", a movingly elegant classical-meets-jazz mash-up ... Extraordinary".
