"As Mary Lane states in the liner notes, "If you don't dig the blues you have a hole in your soul." Lane gives a 10 song set of vintage Chicago blues ... while taking you to the back porch on an earthy "Make Up Your Mind" with Colin Linden on dobro. She tells a story with blue hues on "Travelin' Woman" and "Some People Say I'm Crazy" and gets down and dirty for "Bad Luck and Trouble." Even her "love" songs are filled with gristle, such as "Ain't Nobody Else" and "Let Me Into Your Heart" and she's a gas on "Leave That Wine Alone." Rib sticking sounds".

" ... at age 83, Lane is finally getting the attention she deserves with the release of this CD ... If there's a complaint here, it's the LP-like running time of only 38:54. That's plenty, though, to confirm that Mary Lane is a lady who says what she means and means what she says ... If you're looking for an album of honest, heartfelt blues, you can't go wrong with Mary Lane".
