"Varshons 2 (naturally) is another beautifully quirky take on other's music, with Evan Dando offering a sincere, earnest takes on songs by everyone from Yo La Tengo and Paul Westerberg to The Eagles. And while it would be easy to write this off as just another musician trying to be ironic by covering a track like The Eagles' "Take It Easy," the result is a solid cover, fun without being goofy".

"Dando remains a sensitive, nuanced interpreter and, as produced by Matthew Cullen, the Lemonheads sound amiable and charming: the best college bar band you could imagine stumbling upon on a Saturday afternoon".

"The elephant in the room remains - it's been an agonising 13 years since The Lemonheads released any original music, and surely the breezy, beefed-up rock of 2006's self-titled album can't be their swansong. But covers are Dando's bread and butter, and Varshons II serves as a love letter to the breadth and talent of rock music, but also to Dando's sizeable melodic gifts".
