"Once counted as standard-bearers for the prefabricated genre known as "Americana," the Jayhawks' mosaic of woozy memory and wooly panache now comprises a version of American music all their own, stretching out endlessly like a Midwestern summer's night".

"XOXO is The Jayhawks' eleventh album and their first new material since 2016's Paging Mr Proust. It's also the first to feature writing and vocal contributions from all four members(Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Tim O'Reagan, Karen Grotberg). Inevitably, it is relatively wide-ranging in its musical moods though the central pillar is the way it fuses American roots and 60s British pop ... The title translates as kisses and hugs, may I suggest you open your arms and pucker up for its embrace".

"XOXO succeeds at proving the band is more than an assemblage of talented players. As individuals and as a whole, the Jayhawks offer 12-plus compositions to help listeners who may be alone and scared by reminding us that we are all alone together".
