"[Arod's] performance does not paint a sedate and bland picture of Papa Haydn, but one driven by energy and commitment. In doing so, they repeatedly reveal small nuances in the phrasing that one has never heard before or perhaps never expected. This attention to detail may not appeal to everyone. But it is full of little surprises that keep you listening. It is by no means boring.".

"Quatuor Arod's Haydn Op. 76 is played ... with a firmly classical mindset: lighter bow work, judicious vibrato, and a generally rounded tone ... the players use modern instruments, but they've adopted late-18th-century-style bows ... aiming for greater flexibility, lightness, and clarity of attack. (...) Overall, it's a very enjoyable traversal of works that rarely run out of fresh angles".

"... a markedly individual approach to dynamics, pulse and agogics ... They play about with rhythms, too, often pulling up on sforzandos before tumbling onto the next beat: cheeky once or twice but predictable and wearing when it happens time after time ... When these players really lean into the energy of the music and let it unfold without interference, though, it really goes with a swing".

"No quartet in my experience has employed such a wide range of colour and dynamics in this music, often with revelatory results ... The Doric's daring, imaginative and technically superb performances demand to be heard".

"It's hard not to be captivated by the sheer inventiveness of the Arod's playing, their sense of delight in music where Haydn often seems to take himself by surprise. They are always acutely responsive to harmonic flux. The mysterious tonal labyrinth at the centre of No 1's finale is magically timed and coloured. And few quartets catch as vividly the vein of antic eccentricity that runs through these works".
