"Every music fan has his or her private heroes, gifted artists who, for one reason or another, rarely register on the mainstream radar. Simone Felice is one of mine. He is among the most poetic lyricists working today, capable of touching the rarefied heights of Dylan, Cohen and Cave. Bad luck, bad timing, small labels and a bohemian instinct to put art before commerce have all contributed to a career in the margins ... The Projector barely hints at the rootsy warmth of Felice's earlier offerings. He was a founding member of Americana band the Felice Brothers and added soulful grooves with his ensemble the Duke and the King ... In demand as a producer, he has worked with the Lumineers and Bat for Lashes (who both return the favour, singing backing vocals here). British electronica maverick Four Tet lends minimalist atmospheric touches to otherwise simple arrangements".
