"Their self-titled debut album in 2007 was the result of two years of collaborative recording, editing, sonic experimentation and re-recording. Upright bassist Viktor Krauss, trumpeter Ron Miles, and violinist/violist Eyvind Kang also contributed. The highly atmospheric musical palette breached styles from dubby reggae, country, and blues to New Orleans-styled funk and swampy rock. On Floratone II, emulating the same recording and editing process, the end result is more abstract in its production, but conversely more song-like in its structure".

"Floratone II (like 2007's Floratone, not under the Frisell moniker) plays like a sideman/frontman kind of gig. The ever self-effacing guitarist is all over the new one".
