"At this stage in his career, which itself is older than most rappers, Common's presence is as comforting as a mug of cocoa, and he's firmly in a soulful niche with his new album, A Beautiful Revolution Pt 2 ... It's been a long and at times bumpy road, but Common raps with the calm contentment of a man who's reached his destination, and it certainly sounds satisfying".

"'A Beautiful Revolution, Pt. 2' is the soundtrack to a new revolt. It's about unity in the face of adversity and bringing awareness to the Black struggle. But at its core it's a celebration of Black pride that sees Common in full swing as a champion of peace, love and freedom".

"Few moments truly stand out or offer something not provided by part one, though there are a couple nice surprises toward the end: Riggins' clever usage of a René & Angela quiet storm classic on the utopic "Imagine," and a visit from Raphael Saadiq on the righteous "Get It Right," in which Common extols "a woman vice president that went to Howard" and "Stacey and the people of Georgia." The energy throughout the album is so steady and positive that, even at a low volume, it can have a pacifying effect on the soul".
