"Overall, A Better Dystopia is definitely a success for MONSTER MAGNET. By providing a collection of solid takes on well-written tracks, it does what every good covers album should do, and what so few manage. Rather than comparing notes on the originals, listeners are free to enjoy the versions on offer for what they are. Not only does this enable the band to pull off the rare feat of making a good covers record, but it ensures that A Better Dystopia makes a welcome addition to an already impressive back catalogue".

"Overall, with how seamlessly each tunes transition into one another, despite the versatile cover origins, you often forget that you are knee deep in a cover album. Additionally, the production in general for this album is definitely a success. As always, Monster Magnet find ways to bring past vibe into the present. Forever known as a band that never disappoints ...".

"... this is a very solid and expertly performed selection of songs that many listeners would otherwise never hear. Monster Magnet still outclass most of their peers even when they playing someone else's songs. People wanting to trace the roots of the metal and hard rock back to some of its less-well-remembered roots could find a lot worse places to start than with A Better Dystopia".
