"One of the apparent advantages of being friends with Peter Buck is that he seems to be down for a collaboration at a moment's notice. Robyn Hitchcock, Mark Eitzel, Kevn Kinney, Alejandro Escovedo, and Corin Tucker are among the many artists who have benefitted from being in the right place at the right time with their pal. Now, the mutual admiration society between Buck and singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur has resulted in an album of songs they wrote and recorded over the space of a few days in 2017 ... if Buck's aim was to help his friend make a good album, he succeeded, and Arthur Buck once again demonstrates Joseph Arthur is an unsung hero in the American singer/songwriter community".

"Though it's essentiallya finely-crafted guitar pop record, Arthur Buck also finds room for enough angles, quirks and adroitly-employed electronica to keep it interesting and it rarely putsa foot wrong as a result. The Losing My Religion-esque guitar motif launching I Am The Moment and the ghostly E-Bow and feedback-framed Can't Make It Without Youdoff their cap to Buck's illustrious past, but the swampy groove of Wanderer, eerie Blackstar-esque machine funk of If You Wake Up In Time and soul-tinged existentialism of Before Your Love Is Gone suggest Arthur Buck's sights are set very firmly on the future".
