"Teneil Throssell's full-length debut is break-neck techno that tries to transcend the club without turning its back on it .. Vocals play a prominent role in roughly half of the album's songs, and while they sometimes work-UK trans activist Kai-Isaiah Jamal's spoken-word poetry cuts powerfully through the moody "Human Sound"-they sometimes feel like Throssell is straining slightly for gravitas, pasting emotion on top of tracks that communicate plenty of it on their own".

"As a whole, 'Baby, We're Ascending' feels as though it was made to carry you through the tender transition from night to daybreak, watching the sun rise as you ride the bus home. It's light and transcendent, but also grounded and assured of itself even in its most vulnerable moments".

"The Australian producer's anticipated debut is something of a left turn from high-frequency techno, at its best when it holds back in favour of open space".
