"Tiny Ruins have cemented their aesthetic since their formation in 2009. 'Ceremony' is an album that feels knowingly subdued. After finishing the tour for 'Olympic Girls', Fullbrook returned home to Manukau Harbour right before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. 'Ceremony' is an album that sounds like it was created at a time of pause and contemplation. It considers personal loss and the environment with stunning sincerity".

"There's no filler to be found on another accomplished and quietly haunted release from a group celebrating a decade together as a unit".

"Hollie Fullbrook's fourth album might not reward casual listeners, but dip deeper and a wide, wondrous universe awaits".

"Before Nadia Reid and Aldous Harding there was, and is, Tiny Ruins, aka Hollie Fullbrook. Once a folk singer recorded so quiet and intimately that you could hear her licking her lips between words, Fullbrook has slowly gathered like-minded musicians around her to expand her sound, even going full-blown Kirsty MacColl folk pop on opening track "Dogs Dreaming". Rich with naturalistic imagery - soaring birds, stranded sea life, wind-bent trees - the songs are rooted in Fullbrook's immediate environment on the edges of Auckland's Manukau Harbour ... Relationships with uncomfortable endings, uneasy attractions, and deep personal loss pepper Fullbrook's songs, but her Tiny Ruins bandmates consistently lift her into the light, creating warmth and depth".
