"Originally from the Ivory Coast Peter One emigrated to the US to escape Civil War. Prior to this, he released in 1985 a country/folk-flavoured album with Jess Sah Bi, Our Garden Needs Its Flowers, which was hugely successful, particularly in Francophone West Africa. Come Back to Me is his belated follow-up and sees him return to performing live, recently as a support act to Jason Isbell. There is a West African element, linguistically and instrumentally, with vocals in English, French and Gouro. However it is fair to say that Peter One's time in Nashville has heavily influenced his current music. 'Staring into the Blues' is pure country funk with wailing harmonica and Nashville shuffle rhythms. Other songs are tender with acoustic guitars, pedal steel and Peter One's pleasant and heartfelt vocals".
