"Complete Strangers is one of those collections where over the course of several listens each song enjoys time as being considered the highpoint of the album only for another track to supplant it soon after. Whisper it, but Vetiver may have just made one of the albums of the year".

"Arbina raises the benchmark for African music to a new high and hints at an exciting future where hitherto under-represented music can break free and flourish".

"He clearly gets all these forms he's exploring. Too often, though, the songs sound like mere skeletons constructed from obvious and disconnected influences. After a spin or two, there's no reason to revisit much of Complete Strangers, nothing left to discover aside from just how threadbare these tunes are. The richness of Cabic's forebears eludes him, as though he's too busy moving between styles to commit to any of them. He does a lot to highlight his predecessors' work but very little to advance it".
