"Following in the footsteps of the legendary Theatre of Tragedy, Norway's Tristania are one of the creators of the symphonic gothic movement ... Even though there was some hesitation on my part approaching Darkest White, it is a stunning return to form. We find a band that has found themselves and the raw production suits their sound. It appears that Tristania has decided not to follow trends and write a record that is true to their spirit. Darkest White should catapult them back on top of the symphonic gothic scene, as this could very well be the best release of their storied career".
