"A pair of discs to warm any Francophile's heart ... Disc one is devoted to an alluring collection of mélodies, sung delectably as might be expected from Von Otter, with finely nuanced support from Bengt Forsberg ... As a foil to this intelligently constructed recital, the second disc explores the world of chanson, Von Otter and Forsberg being joined by a band of friends ... With some singers, this could be embarrassing, but Von Otter has the flexibility to allow darker and breathier hues into her voice ... The arrangements are tasteful and effective ... making Le Facteur one highlight among many in this charming pair of discs".

"Here's something to delight admirers of Anne-Sofie von Otter in French repertoire. Her voice may not be in the first flush of youth, but her sung French is so good, and her sense of idiom so secure, that there's a great deal to enjoy here - especially as the songs have been chosen with such obvious care ... [On] the second disc ... von Otter takes on French popular chanson ... I'm delighted to report that the results here are bewitching ... No doubts here - assuming the repertoire appeals, this is a joy ... This whole collection deserves a warm recommendation to lovers of all sorts of French song".

"All listeners, whichever direction they are coming from, should expect a voyage of discovery ... Only a singer with von Otter's near-native grasp of the French language and style could bring this off ... Against the odds, this two-CD set is a double pleasure".
