"There are more midtempo tracks here than on their debut, and the production is a bit less jagged, but Hekt's lyrics are just as raw and personal, making up for any perceived loss of immediacy. That shouldn't be a problem, anyway - there's an insistency to Fixed Ideals that grabs you and won't let go".

"Muncie Girls have foiled the sophomore slump with Fixed Ideals, and if they sound a bit less D.I.Y. this time out, they still sound like a smart and forceful rock band that can deliver great music while offering plenty of food for thought".

"What's that? Album number two from the best kept secret in British indie is another banger? But important too? ... It's probably possible to dislike a record that opens with the lyric, "I'm so angry, I'm going to get a tattoo, that says 'fuck Jeremy Clarkson, and fuck you too" but not on this watch it isn't".
