"No facet of Sultana's debut is at all startling - and that includes the standard issue nu-bluesy vocal, complete with all the usual, strangely accented affectations. There is some distinctive subject matter: as a teenager, Sultana suffered drug-related psychosis and the lyrics allude to this hellish experience - yet with a vagueness that ensures all the songs remain palatable to the casual listener. Perhaps this benignness is the key to Sultana's success - producing music that sounds passionate but is ultimately unwilling to disrupt anything except the charts".

"Tash Sultana is a modern rarity, a gifted guitarist with a healthy appreciation for flash but practically no rockist impulses, despite the presence of the nine-minute showcase "Blackbird." Sultana could stand to edit themself a bit better, but Flow State is unquestionably the work of a first-rate talent with potential, and if anyone is going to teach younger artists about the innate coolness of the guitar, they seem like just the person to do it".

"Vurdering: B+" -"We recently released our list of 10 Pop Records for People Who Hate Pop Music, and we might have been remiss in excluding Flow State. Sultana's ear for tasty hooks and melodies can't be denied any more than her boundless musicianship, so those hell-bent on dismissing pop as middle-of-the-road mainstream schmaltz will have to look for proof of such elsewhere. This is great pop music with an edge, a record full of good vibes and bad attitude that somehow manages to work everything out splendidly".
