"The Flamin' Groovies had, in fact, spent the late 60s as an actual garage band. That incarnation is preserved in this exhaustive set. Debut Supersnazz is urgent if unfocused, filtering bluesy R&B and 50s rock'n'roll through a clean-ish Stones/Seeds swagger. 1970 found the band signed to Kama Sutra, with the tougher but tinnier Flamingo under their belts. Almost Stooges-esque at times ... With 1971's Teenage head everything slides into place".
