"Spoon have released nine albums since the early 1990s, the last three reaching the US Top 10. So they have nothing to prove, but you wouldn't know that from the 10 songs here: Hot Thoughts is loaded with tunes, invention and adventure ... Britt Daniel's searing voice has an elemental rock'n'roll feel, like John Lennon's or Kurt Cobain's, and the whole album is expertly conceived and put together".

"Spoon stay in their well-earned lane but tweak the formula just enough on their ninth album, keeping their reliably great songwriting and adding new, electronic textures ... The tinkering of the trim Spoon attitude has become the most engaging part of their latter-day career. For a band that seems built on a reliable formula, they remain full of possibilities".

"All Spoon albums have some great songs and tasteful production touches, but Hot Thoughts might be the first time they didn't do another year's slightly tweaked version of Girls Can Tell. To arrive at such a worthwhile new vista roughly 24 years in is a pretty serious achievement, and all with no more overt fanfare than a humble presentation of one of their best offerings".

Men enkeltdelene stråler.
