"The eccentric producer uses samples and collaborations to brilliantly exploit the spaces between deep house, trip-hop and R&B on an appealingly odd album ... It's a collection of music so eclectic that it could easily sound scattered and messy - the distance between the trebly, lo-fi strum of José González collaboration Music on My Teeth and the warped deep house and naive, untutored vocals of Planet Hase is pretty huge - but it holds together, largely as a result of Koze's evident interest in melody".

"Best New Music" - "Across a handful of albums, not to mention many dozens of remixes and a few full-length DJ mixes, he combines the crunchy propulsion of French touch, the liquid warmth of '70s soul, the precise structure of Kompakt-style minimal techno, the head-nodding funk of boom-bap, and the nameless desire of dream pop. The thread through it all is a very specific emotional state: Sifting through his library of samples and pieces of original music, he finds the moments that express wistful longing, burrows into them, and then blows it all up to color-saturated widescreen".

"Like Amygdala, Knock Knock features an abundance of guest vocalists and a wide selection of styles, ranging from lovesick ballads to hypnotic floor-fillers. This time out, he manages to push his sample manipulations further over the edge than before, with shredded, Mouse on Mars-like vocal mutations popping up all over the place, even on some of the album's most dramatic songs, lending to a very strange dynamic ... an absurdly emotional, innovative album".
