"A largely Francophone cast sings idiomatically and elegantly under Kazushi Ono, whose balance of both the lushest and most austere passages in Ravel's instrumentation is flawless, the London Philharmonic Orchestra sounding engaged and relaxed in both works ... L'enfant is fluid and magical, its split-second encounters between Khatouna Gadelia's stroppy Child and the madcap parade of vengeful creatures and animated objects deftly choreographed ... Best moment? Gadelia's insouciant, pitch-perfect shaping of the last two syllables of the opera: Maman!".

"The current pairing is preferable: plentiful knockabout farce in L'heure, but a truly magical L'enfant which will prove hard to beat".

"Vurdering: Gramophone choice" - "The first bouquet for this splendid new L'heure espagnole must go to Caroline Ginet and Florence Evrard, the designers of the set ... d'Oustrac exudes sauciness and barely suppressed desire by turns ... [in L'enfant Gadelia] does infant sulking to perfection. Laurent Pelly directs the dizzying succession of scenes with a sure hand ... Will provide enormous pleasure".
