"I have been rather critical about this production. It is quite possible that I would have been more positive if it had been a DVD. That wouldn't have made the singing of some soloists any better, though. Even so, I have enjoyed this recording, mainly because of Vinci's music which I like ... Opera-lovers will certainly want this recording, despite its shortcomings".

"I like the sound of the period-instrument orchestra ... and Antonio Florio has a light and airy approach ... Sonia Prina [Partenope] ... surmounting the vocal hurdles with a scintillating facility and enviable breath control ... Vinci's operas have been almost ignored, so to have Partenope in such a good performance is cause for thanks".

"The singing here is above all dramatically coloured ... Prina has exceptional technical control and the cumulative addition of ornaments throughout her arias is genuinely exciting ... Partenope is a sure bet for all lovers of Baroque opera, tightly controlled by Florio, dominated by the indomitable Prina, and a thrilling testimony to a Vinci whose prodigious talents are only just being rediscovered".

"Albeit truncated and uneven, this confirms Vinci as a meritorious opera composer".
