"Quirky in the extreme, "Make Mine Mondo" does what it says on the tin - and then some. Fuzzed-out garage bands, wayward rockabillies and mental instrumentalists conjure up a melee of mondo mayhem in long ago Los Angeles. Comprising 11 extremely rare and sought-after garage band singles (nine previously un-compiled and new to CD), eight instrumentals (again previously un-compiled) and several unreleased rock'n'roll and R&B numbers re-mastered for legitimate first-time release, "Make Mine Mondo" screams for attention".

"The record label boss dons a white lab coat and is consumed by unhinged laughter as blood curdling screams ensue (The Zanies' "The Mad Scientist"). Lew Bedell's Dore label liked to put out strange records in the '50s and early '60s. Alongside the mayhem (...), reveling in skewed Brit invasion sounds. Los Corvets fuzz up and add reverb to the Stones' Satisfaction (...); Spencer's Van Dykes' "I'll Blow Your Mind" is all wailing blues harp, tambourine-bashing garage punk with snarling vocals, and The Syndicates' "Love Will Take Away" is trebly psych. A label that spans all the way from the ridiculous to the sublime".

"Spotlight on the maverick Dore label from Los Angeles ... A label that spans all the way from the ridiculous to the sublime".
