"A raga-rock circularity. Finger cymbals. A distant, etiolated female vocal. A fuggy atmosphere. A kinship with Jefferson Airplane's "Come Up The Years", The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey" and The Velvet Underground's "All Tomorrow's Parties". Hangman's Beautiful Daughters' "Love is Blue" is a beautiful, haunting recording".

"Named after an album by The Incredible String Band and mentored by Dan Treacy of Television Personalities, The Hangman's Beautiful Daughters knocked out a handful of releases in the late 80s ... This London outfit found themselves spellbound by 60s psych-pop, were partial to 12-string jangles and knew their way around a melody. Their best tracks have a transgressive and almost punky edginess to them, like The Stranglers and The Velvet Underground fighting over a copy of the first Primal Scream album as Grace Slick lambasts both parties with withering heckles".
