"Young folk duo Kacy & Clayton comprise vocalist Kacy Anderson (16) and multi-instrumentalist Clayton Linthicum (19). Despite their tender years, they showcase a mature and fully-developed sound on their second album, The Day Is Past & Gone. This is sparse traditional folk that recalls the likes of Maddy Prior and Fairport Convention. Kacy has a clear and pure voice, while Linthicum is a fine and versatile instrumentalist. He is now making his mark in Deep Dark Woods, whose mainman, Ryan Boldt, co-produced the record".

"This duo exudes a level of deep emotional connection which enables them to inhabit old, familiar songs like The Cherry Tree Carol, Green Grows The Laurel and The Dalesman's Litany and render them fresh and distinctive, while seamlessly integrating their own, newly-built songs (...) into this evocative musical landscape. Anderson's voice - plaintive, yearning and strong - summon to mind monochrome images of Jean Ritchie in some half-remembered Alan Lomax movie to mind, while Linthicum's guitar triggers flashes of both Davy Graham and Doc Watson ... Anyone who fell hopelessly for Meg Baird's Dear Companion in 2007 will find much to love about this (...) fine folk album, timeless and true".
