"More conservatoire than ceilidh, the ten tracks (...) aren't straightahead, 32-bar, AA-BB traditional dance tunes, but nonetheless possess a strong sense of regional identity in both the songs and instrumental compositions ... The choppy rhythms, layers of circular riffs, textures, drones, dynamics and modern, indie sensibility inevitably suggest a kinship with (and the influence of) Lau, and the paired vocals have something of The Unthanks' quiet intensity about them. Noise Show, Dusking and Magic Circles (...) should appeal to those in thrall to the abstract songwriting of Lisa Knapp, while the delightful Me And My Friend brought the phrase "Gaelic Spiro" to mind. Brimming with confidence and creativity, Twelfth Day are currently touring their 21st Century art music for trad fans in the UK".
