"With that guttural voice she must've made an impact on the likes of Janis Joplin and Grace Slick, just listen to her takes of I Know You Rider, or High Flying Bird (the latter of which Jefferson Airplane also performed, don't forget.)While The Elektra Albums displays Henske's ability to give both banjo-led folk ballads and jazzier, cabaret style performances her all, it jars slightly on the ears when you move between the two, though this is a minor criticism. Similarly her phrasing on some songs, such as Lilac Wine, may not be to everyone's taste - but we'd be deeply surprised if you're not captivated".

"Just like Judy Henske, High Flying Bird proved popular within the folk community upon its release in 1963. The problem was, that Judy Henske's music wasn't finding a wider audience beyond the folk community. When Jac Holzman ran the numbers, he realised that High Flying Bird hadn't sold enough copies to warrant offering Judy Henske another contract. For Judy Henske, it was the end of the for her at Elektra Records".
