"Ultimately, Bush devotees who lived through the alt.rock `90s will find much to love about The Kingdom. But it is also an album delivered with Rossdale's customary style and panache, not to mention tunes that sit elegantly alongside the likes of Everything Zen and Swallowed".

""When will you know if the song's been sung?" Gavin Rossdale sings obliviously on The Kingdom's "Quicksand." It's a question he apparently didn't take too seriously when writing that tune or the other 11 modern warhorses on the long-running band's eighth album, which trudge through the same monochromatic grunge he first peddled a quarter of a century ago".

"Die-hard Bush fans often recall Sixteen Stone as the group's conquering work, but now may hear a potential rivalry with the coming of The Kingdom. Bush's eighth studio album presents as a modern-age merge of early Bush with a harder spin and enduring momentum ... In the least amount of words: The Kingdom is a healthy and dynamic record, leaning toward a heavier sound that is majorly consistent. And Rossdale's piecemeal, emotive style of songwriting serves the record well, leading with heart and less structure or obligation".
