"This is good stuff. The wild and barmy music of Cambodia's '60s and early '70s absorbed the funkiest of international sounds, with Hendrixy riffing and irresistible grroves. It's impossible to square with the performers responsible having been massacred by the Khmer Rouge, almost without exception. Interspersed between the originals are the revival bands. Dengue Fever's Tiger Phone Card remains a great pop song, and the Cambodie Space Project's Whiskey Cambodia is a brooding, unfurling piece that recalls the use of the Doors' The End in Apocalypse Now ... The bonus CD (...) by the Cambodian Space Project (...) is a riveting collection ... Sadly (...), the scanty sleevenotes [cause] much frustration for anyone wanting to know more about the captivating content".
