"This sentimental documentary is directed by Denny Tedesco, whose father, Tommy, was a lauded guitar player of that era. (He died in 1997.) Mostly, it's hagiography, with stars like Cher and Brian Wilson used as character witnesses to the players' greatness ... "Wrecking Crew" (...) does raise the question of why players of this caliber - often, they didn't even want their names printed in the credits of the records they worked on, but some have since been voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - were so content in the shadows".
