No depression

"Price says Clay has been his mentor and inspiration. This presentation is more than hero worship, it's a meeting of the minds and a melding of voices to produce a sound steeped in tradition, reeking of soulful sweat and a joy to listen to. The only thing that would make it better would be to take this show on out on the road- this stuff is too good to be absorbed by only one of the senses".

"Clay's vocals have coarsened over the years, but they're still strong and shot through with emotion. Price is smoother, in some ways closer to pop than deep soul ... But he's got the chops to be an adequate foil for Clay ... As might be expected on a Duke Robillard production, the musicianship is first-rate - tenor saxophonist Mark Earley's solos are especially impressive, and Duke's own leads are their usual meld of soulfulness and southern-fried blues emotionalism. No new ground is broken here, but that's the point - these vocalists remain dedicated to keeping the rich deep-soul tradition alive, unembellished and uncorrupted".
