"Music of this quality can't be rushed; there's a depth of understanding here that represents a lasting commitment to traditional music from all around the UK ... The result is Undersong, a highly accomplished album of wonderful music, that singles Salt House out as a trio of exceptional talent".

"Five years after (...) their debut album "Lay Your Dark Low", Salt House return in a new line-up with singer and musician Jenny Stugeon joining original members Ewan MacPherson (guitar, mandola, vocals) and Lauren MacColl (fiddle, viola, vocals). Recorded in an old church on the island of Bernerary, Outer Hebrides by producer Andy Bell, this is a record with a distinct sonic ambience that welcomes the listener's attention. Opener "Old Shoes" (...) offers an immediate demonstration of the group's strengths. Their ability to blend simple individual elements into just the right amount of collective complexity marks them as a beautifully-functioning unit ... Lyrically melancholic yet musically uplifting, this is an atmospheric and gently compelling album".
