"After the mainstream ambitions of Infinite Arms and Mirage Rock, Band of Horses's fifth album makes something of a triumphant return to the wide-eyed, dreamy vulnerability that marked the Seattle band's first two records".

"Working with producer Jason Lytle, formerly of the band Grandaddy, Ben Bridwell has crafted his best album in nearly a decade, but problems still remain ... the title of Why Are You OK? becomes as unintentionally truthful as that of Mirage Rock. Every darker, weirder impulse got glossed over while the music gives an agreeable shrug".

"While certainly not complacent, they do seem to lack some of the hunger of their Sub Pop years and the broad scope of their Grammy-nominated Infinite Arms LP. Lytle's riskier production is a nice bonus and there are some strong standouts like the hooky lead single "Casual Party" and guitarist Tyler Ramsey's breezy "Country Teen," but as a whole, Why Are You OK isn't quite as memorable a set as they've proven capable of delivering".

"På deres femte udspil skridter den amerikanske kvintet Band of Horses tilforladeligt og temperamentsforladt i cirkler om sig selv".
