Ace of spades

"In spite of its odd use of the BBC sessions, the bonus disc on Ace of Spades is probably the best of the lot, offering the "Dirty Love" b-side (in three versions) and previously unreleased alternates of eight album cuts. All worth hearing, the album alternates range from a slightly different version of "Love Me Like a Reptile" and a slower, more grinding "Shoot You in the Back" to a radically different version of "Ace of Spades"".

"This singular sound (still loud and in your face, rest assured), along with the exceptionally strong songwriting and the legendary stature of the title track, makes Ace of Spades the ideal Motörhead album if one were to choose one and only one studio album. It's highly debatable whether Ace of Spaces is tops over the breakthrough Overkill, as the latter is more landmark because of its earlier release, and is somewhat rougher around the edges, too".

Many young bands that helped create thrash metal were obviously influenced by MOTORHEAD in general and this album specifically ... The live shows capture the band at a moment in time when they were at the peak of their powers ... The rarities album and instrumental EP are more for hardcore fans, but there are some interesting nuggets".
