"This is heart-stoppingly wonderful singing, effortlessly expressive, beautifully toned violin, and playing on the laouto that's just exactly right, whether it's on mournful songs like Doctor or sprightly, danceable items like Giavri ... It's a mix of traditional and old songs from Asa Minor, Turkey and Greece and the islands of the eastern Medierranean, some of which will be familiar to fans of music from this region (...), a few originals, and a taksim (improvised instrumental piece) each. It proves that Martha is just as good playing traditional music as she is with the jazz-leaning works of her own recent trio outings, and it's a jaw-dropping introduction to Koukoularis for us who are inexperts".
