"Phoenix's most immediate work since Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and their most varied since United, Alpha Zulu does indeed range from A to Z, but the band are always in control and the results are frequently brilliant".

"The album is packed with an impressive amount of energy and ideas for a band celebrating their 25th anniversary: All 10 tracks are stacked with hooks, making it as good as their 2009 breakthrough album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. ... Mars's sophisticated stream-of-consciousness lyrics operate in perfect synchronicity with the album's sound. Melancholy themes of mortality are balanced by a giddy commitment to seizing the dance floor moment".

"selvom Alpha Zulu ikke er et senmoderne mesterværk eller for alvor fører nyt til Phoenix' musikalske kanon, er titelnummeret en stærk indledning, der er rig på farver, hooks og et insisterende synth-beat ... Men som albummets halve time løber af stablen, bliver øjnene lettere tunge, og man finder sig selv undertrykke et gab af og til. Der er for få udsving på den lyseblå vægtskala".

"When Phoenix got back together after the pandemic to record in a wing of the Louvre, they were bursting to go, and the results radiate buoyancy. While rooted in their classic blend of slick electro-pop, 'Alpha Zulu' also opens up new avenues. The title track is pure pop with heavy nods to club beats, while on the pulsing, punchy "Tonight" they welcome a guest vocalist for the first time in Ezra Koenig. It's fitting that they recorded this in one of Paris's most celebrated cultural institutes, as the band continue to elevate themselves into one of the country's finest pop exports".
