"... their hybrid of white pop and black soul was a torch carried forward into the '70s and '80s by the likes of Hot Chocolate and The Beat, while Lynval Golding of The Specials has cited seeing The Foundations on the Midlands club circuit in the '60s as a seismic inspiration".

"In the late 60s, The Foundations briefly ruled, becoming the first multi-racial UK band to have a No 1 here ... They remain almost legendary, for their pioneer spirit and and those three titanic singles [Baby Now That I've Found You, Build Me Up Buttercup, In The Bad Bad Old Days]. Were their first three albums, gathered here with compilation tracks and [singer Clem] Curtis rarities, on the same plane? Not quite, though their take on Harlem Shuffle is "real cool"".
