Blood

"The third and final album by This Mortal Coil, 1991's Blood is neither as unfocused as Filigree & Shadow or as conceptually pure as It'll End in Tears, but it's a solidly enjoyable set. Once again, nearly half the tracks are instrumentals (or tracks with minimal and often wordless female vocals) written by Ivo Watts-Russell and John Fryer, but this batch of tunes holds together much better than the much more amorphous originals on Filigree & Shadow; lengthy atmospheric explorations like "Dreams Are Like Water" sound composed and thoughtful rather than merely pretty. And as always, the covers are brilliantly chosen".

"Der var engang - i slutningen af 1980'erne og begyndelsen af 1990'erne - hvor man trygt kunne købe plader efter, hvilket pladeselskab musikken var udgivet på (...) 4AD var garanter for musik af tårnhøj kvalitet ... Når 4AD var allerbedst, var det en af stifterne selv, Ivo Watts-Russell, der komponerede. Det gjorde han i duoen This Mortal Coil, som (...) udgav tre vanvittigt smukke plader. Nu er pladerne genoptrykt - også den sidste, 'Blood', som udkom i 1991 og har været nærmest umulig at opstøve på vinyl i mange år. Her forenes sange, stemmer og arrangementer i en eksplosion af vellyd".
