"The sounds of data being compressed, analysed and shared illegally, of privacies being invaded covertly and devastating collateral damage being wrought all infuse the ominous track as it drops its overwhelming digitised payload. The stronger of the two records [Dekadrone and BN9Drone] by a clear mile, it breaks away from Sword's definition of drone to incorporate clear distinctions in its abrasive mise-en-scène".

"Compared to Dekadrone, BN9Drone doesn't quite lift off, staying closer to the ground for its duration, and at 64 minutes (including a false ending), it simply goes on for roughly twice as long as it needs to. A shorter dose of it can be effective, however".

"If the title is a play on "benign", it's ironic: this is a dark, heavy and deceptively simple electronic soundscape, masterfully composed, its vast, rumbling plain recalling recent shots of Mars' arid surface, disrupted by the urgent crackling of police comms and flares of violent white noise. Beneath it, the constant tolling of what sounds like a submarine sonar. Oddly calming, even as it chills".
