"Brighter Still doesn't ride on the coat-tails of the success Heirs and Graces enjoyed. Rather than adopting the safe approach of `that went well, let's do it again`; Adam has gained confidence in his own ability and taken his music forward. Not in a new direction, but off on a gentle tangent that explores what else can be achieved when the quality of the song writing leaves ample space for adventure. The music is still rooted in the rhythm & blues, country and folk that's inspired Adam, but on this album he allows his own voice as a singer, song-writer and musician shine Brighter Still".

"Many will already know [the 24-year-old Edinburgh-born singer-songwriter] as the vocalist of trailblazing Scottish folk-band Rura, or from his 2013 debut album Heirs And Graces. Adam's warm, richly patina-ed vocal has a bluesy, contemporary quality, and his evocative, soulful songs are given perfect accompaniment here by acoustic, electric and bass guitars, pedal steel, piano, electric piano, Hammond organ, percussion and backing vocals. As good as his debut album was, Adam really takes it up a level for this second album ... His romantic bluesy writing has confidently absorbed a range of influences, reminding me variously of Tom Russell, Eric Bibb, Van Morrison, John Martyn and 1980s vintage Paul Simon. The sweet melancholy country ballad Love Down The Line sounds like an Eddi Reader song, and - as a special treat - Eddi joins Adam here for a gloriously sentimental duet".
