"Bluegrass-Americana phenom Molly Tuttle and her Golden Highway band saw their 2022 ensemble debut, 'Crooked Tree', take home the trophy for Best Bluegrass Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The pressure to deliver a worthy sequel has had little effect on the group. Tuttle and company have released another assured collection of songs that pair virtuosic musicianship with relatable and erudite songwriting".

"'Crooked Tree' might have felt like a peak, but with 'City of Gold', Tuttle continues her ascent ... One of the year's best albums".

"Med det seneste album 'City of Gold' har Tuttle modtaget en række musikpriser også uden for bluegrass-miljøet (...) På albummet formår hun at vise sit overdådige talent, sit virtuose spil og store musikalske rækkevidde godt hjulpet af sit band ... Tuttle er naturligvis fortrolig med det traditionelle bluegrass-repertoire, men præsenterer på albummet sine seneste egne sange".

"With City of Gold, Molly Tuttle and producer/dobro guitar maestro Jerry Douglas have accomplished their self-appointed mission, which was to capture the energy and communion that transpires between musicians on the road ... 'Alice in the Bluegrass' transports the classic psychedelic 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane (which Tuttle frequently covers live) into an altogether different genre-dimension. In the murder ballad 'Goodbye Mary', Tuttle's distinctive tremolo voice carries the poignant melodic narrative with heartbreaking solemnity. In 'Down Home Dispensary', Tuttle and co-writer Mason Via make a high-stepping plea to Tennessee legislators to cease their criminalisation of cannabis in the state. Overall, 'City of Gold' shines like, well, you know".
