"Ian was one of the original English country blues guys to emerge from the Bristol area in the sixties, playing beatnik clubs like Les Cousins in London and the Troubadour in Bristol ... Ian accompanies himself throughout on acoustic and slide guitars as well as a 7 string resonator, producing a lovely rural country blues record, welcome back!".

"As you'd expect, there's a healthy dose of blues, including a version of "Keep Your Hands Off Her" that's squarely aimed at an American President. But there's also traditional folk, in the shape of the death ballad "Pretty Polly", "Fair And Tender Ladies", and the less well-known "The Wreck Of The Northfleet" (very apt for these refugee times, about the shipwreck and loss of life of an emigrant vessel) ... It's a fine selection, everything recorded on a single mic in a single take, the old-fashioned way. Everything picked with dexterous èlan, some lovely runs and slide work, and some relaxed, assured vocals. It makes for a very welcome return to recording, laid-back yet passionate, a hark back to old favourites, and maybe a signpost for the future".
