"A decade after they began their bid to become the most popular band in the world, Mumford & Sons are still pushing into unfamiliar territory. Lyrically, the record deals with the onset of maturity and this, combined with that forward-thinking approach, suggests Mumford & Sons are here for the long haul. It's a far from perfect album, but the band's hunger for new sounds must be applauded".

"Mumfords were once adept at uniting disparate influences. Their mesh of big-tent club tempos and banjo hoedowns was horrible but ingenious - it's a knack they've lost. And although Delta's lyrics are painfully earnest (screaming into shadows, frosty words echoing inside, etc), they betray genuinely felt crises".

"Having swapped their tweed waistcoats for suave suit jackets and sophisticated overcoats, a transformation in their sound has also become apparent. Blues-folk songs, bolstered by banjo solos, have been replaced with R'n'B and pop-centric rhythms ... At 61 minutes, Delta is a challenging listen as Mumford & Sons favour style over substance".
