"De to musikere har prøvet konceptet før, da de for halvandet år siden udsatte " Matthæuspassionen" for en tilsvarende behandling. Resultatet var vellykket ... Også denne gang slipper de glimrende fra eksperimentet, og man kan sagtens argumentere for, at den særlige konstellation trompet plus orgel passer endnu bedre til " Messias"' storladne karakter, end det var tilfældet med Bachs i bund og grund mere intime passion ... Skiven er værdifuld og velklingende på sine egne præmisser".
