"With Huam, the band has definitely found its feet, an album that showcases the song writing credentials of both Jenny and Ewan all too well, together with the superb musicianship and flair for arrangement of all three, notably the dreamy "Mountain of Gold" and the rich mosaic of sound that underpins "Lord Ullin's Daughter". There's a definite feeling of both empathy and unity in each of the ten selections ... A tip top addition to a steadily growing collection of first rate albums".

"Beyond the surface meaning of these songs, which can be philosophical, political or poetic, Huam has something of the magic of an untrodden path about it. It rewards deep listening just as a landscape rewards deep observation, and it delights in the spirit of the outdoors and the warmth of home. Light and quick, profound and full of care, it is an album of serenely balanced opposites".

"This trio of Scottish Highland and Island folk musicians (...) have created another atmospheric meditation of the natural world and its ability to bring solace and stability in a shifting world. Salt House are made up of Highland fiddler Lauren MacColl, guitarist Ewan MacPherson and singer, guitarist and harmonium player Jenny Sturgeon ... Following their last album, Undersong, recorded in a church on the Outer Hebrides, the trio once again recorded on location in rural Argyllshire. The care taken is evident in an album that is a meticulously curated mix of their own material and traditional songs and poems, including a Danish ballad and a Thomas Campbell poem. It can also be heard in music that is symbiotic with the lyrics - ebbing and flowing in response to and as an echo of the emotions evoked in the words. A discordant drone of fiddle as talk turns to a gathering storm at sea or the gentle, lulling repetition of a plucked guitar string to announce the return to the hearthside".
