"Morrison Hotel has its charms ... newly remastered by the Doors' longtime engineer and mixer Bruce Botnick, plus a bonus disc of more than an hour of unreleased studio outtakes ... There is nothing special for most listeners on the bonus disc. There seems to be no reason to have the same music on the CD and the vinyl disc. This reissue seems to be more of a money grab".

Og eneste egentlige ærgrelse ved genudgivelsen er den iboende påmindelse om, at vi aldrig fik lov at høre, hvad The Doors kunne have drevet det til, hvis ikke historien var sluttet i et badekar i Paris i sommeren '71 ... "A 50th edition of The Doors' Morrison Hotel ought to come as no surprise. The album was considered by many to be one of their landmark albums, a return to basics after the elaborate embellishments that brought some pundits to damn their previous effort The Soft Parade ... Ultimately, one might consider these extras interesting but not necessarily essential. Of course, the booklet provides additional worth, as most generally do, but if cost is a factor, the need to acquire may be balanced by finance versus the extent to which one considers themselves a Doors completist".
