"After years spent trading on a bulletproof back catalog and eccentric persona, the Jamaican titan teams up with UK dub heavyweight Adrian Sherwood for a welcome return to form".

"The Jamaican legend's best waxing in 30-plus years ... Since he torched his Black Ark, "Scratch" has needed an editor, and On-U's Adrian Sherwood has been the only co-conspirator to elicit the best from him, most recently on 2008's "The Mighty Upsetter". The pair's fourth collaboration delivers all the whacked-out grooves and cosmic wisdom that Perry conjures at will, but also the key alchemical ingredient so often lacking - songs. "House Of Angels" accomodates his catchiest refrain this millenium, sung by an irresistibly sunny female chorus, while "Makumba Rock"'s Sly & Robbie-style Afro-reggae caper packs a monster bassline amid extra-nutty dub FX. The clincher comes with seven-minute finale "Autobiography Of The Upsetter", where the octogenarian croakily meditates on his singular trajectory. "Rainford" is a late-career answer to 1978's "Roast Fish, Collie Weed & Corn Bread", and, beyond all reasonable expectation, fully its equal".
