"For a band who released just six singles, Kentish Town mods The Action are held in extraordinarily high regard. Cruelly overlooked by the mainstream in the 60s, they first established a sizeable post-career cult status via a 1980 compilation (Edsel's The Ultimate Action), the sleevenotes of which had Paul Weller suggesting they were a better band than The Small Faces ... It's tempting to think of The Action as the nearly-men of mod, but chart positions don't tell the whole tale. Shadows & Reflections refuses to consign the band to footnote status, giving them the full chapter-and-verse treatment they so richly deserve".
