"Sings for the King is a welcome addition to both the Campbell and Presley repertoires; Campbell for what is now heard, Presley for what was and was not issued. The demos here may not have been meant for a general release, but they stand up as worthy material that deserves a wider audience".

"During the period these demos were recorded, Campbell was in the process of launching his own career as a vocalist, and it's not hard to imagine that he used this opportunity to figure out how to decisively deliver a variety of styles: rock & roll, big ballad pop, blues, vaudeville shuffles, and Hollywood razzmatazz. The variety is a testament to Weisman but the success of the music is down to Campbell, who makes this intentionally frothy material seem compelling - sometimes more compelling than the King himself, at least as far as these songs are concerned".

"These 18 previously unheard and unreleased tracks - a dozen of them, including Clambake, Spinout and Stay Away Joe, demos that Presley went on to record and sing in his movies - demonstrate Campbell's perfect pitch and five-octave vocal range, and his uncanny ability to match Presley's key - and even to mimic his delivery - as well as his well-documented talent as a guitarist. But they are more than a posthumous footnote to the career of Campbell, who died last year: they stand up as an impressive album in their own right".
